New Mexico Unit 36

Anyone with any experience in this unit? Lucky enough to draw it and excited to hunt what seems to be one of the best units in the state. Archery, 1st season, Sept 1-14. Curious on what the rutting activity is like during this time. Also, if anyone is willing to share their experience in the unit and where they hunted that would be awesome. Hope most of you have also drawn tags or are able to hunt elk somewhere. Can't wait for September.

Good unit there's plenty of elk but it's diffantly not as many as 34 has....we hunted of Forrest rd 120 and hot on a few good ones and behind the airport was pretty good... don't be afraid to hunt close to Ruidoso elk will stay close to town in some areas...hood luck

damn. i have land in unit 36, but it is in town. ruidoso. my wife wants me to drop a small house on it, so i can be a "resident".

there are a ton of elk there..enough that i killed one. my secret spot is gone tho..they built it up. year round activity. i would pull out a map and skirt the border of the reservation.
