We should have drawn Wyoming this year based on our points....and didn't. The odds were in our favor but we lost out. Now we just found out that we didn't draw Montana either. So now what? Colorado I guess. I don't have any knowledge of anywhere in CO. I have never hunted elk in the same spot twice. Trying to keep a good attitude, but man, 2 kicks to the nards in the same season is hard to take.

There was a leftover piece of pie in the fridge. I just went and ate it. Didn't help.

I just got off the phone with MT Fish and Game. You applied for the Big Game Combo didn't you? Elk and deer? Those did sell out. But the elk only didn't. So call 406-444-2950 and press zero and ask when you can apply for a left over elk only (Elk Combo)license. Get your app in the very minute you can. Sooner even! Ask if you can put it in now. When they sell leftovers they issue the tags on a first come first served basis and date stamp any apps that come in before they start to actually issue the licenses. You ate the pie for nothing! lol

I just talked to a guy at that number and he said we have to wait until they go online. Typically there are a thousand or more left over. he also said that depending on how the permit drawings wind up, we may still yet get a license yet this week. Sounds like the permit only areas haven't been drawn yet. There is hope. I changed into my lucky socks and am wearing them around the clock until we draw a license.

I have a friend that didnt get drawn for the elk combo. I read on Bowsite that someone had called the FWP and was told nothing is finalized yet. Today or Friday should be the final results of the draw.....
This is just one thing I have heard for results. There are a lot of posts going around about what happened.

Ghost, when you check on their website does it list your Elk Combo as pending or is it in the unsuccessful category?

Unsuccessful, the elk permit says pending.

The MT F/W has this on their website,

Permit drawing process continues:The drawing for elk permits was restarted today due to a process error. The elk and deer permit drawing process started on Monday with non-resident big game combo licenses. If applicants are successful in the license drawing then they move into elk and/or deer permit drawings, which happens next. The multi-layered drawing process typically takes a few days to complete. Barring any other unforeseen problems, we anticipate that results will be posted online by the end of the week. Thank you for your patience.

Ok, so now it says I was successful for the elk permit, unsuccessful for the elk combo.

Well one things for sure, they are successful in confusing me.

Should change the title to "Roller Coaster". I now have an elk combo listed under both successful and not successful. I do have it listed under items being held, so I am optimistic. Man, what a dumpster fire the MT G&F website is!
