Anyone with experience in unit 63 Co archery??

Postby Sticknstringer » 03 06, 2017 •  [Post 1]

Looking at 63 and it seems like a good area. Never been there before so anyone who has archery hunted the north east side of 63 with advice would be appreciated.

No experience, yet. But I will be there for 2nd season rifle. So I'm interested in seeing responses too.

Were looking at several otc units. My question now is if the unit I hunt is from 7000 to 9000 . Is 9000 gonna be high enough in early September to have elk or will they be 30 miles away in the 10k to 12k mountain ranges???

I'm planning on hunting somewhere in the SW units if I don't get drawn here in AZ. Anyone hunt in the SW units during archery?

I bowhunted Uncomphrage Wilderness area in Unit 65 last fall. It was our first time in there and we came out empty handed. We did get into elk, but not much bugling activity for the last week of the season. It's pretty rugged unit, the elk were mostly above timberline at 12k. Definitely get in shape for the San Juans!
