The Best Durn Bowhunting Arrows Thread

Sooo, if a guy (or gal) were to recommend the top three, best arrows available on the market to equip your anti-elk bow, what would you say? I've shot a lot of manufacturer's arrows over the year and quite honestly, have never shelled out the big bones for what folks said were the best. They all eventually tuned up fine with my broad heads and "kilt the bar that kilt me", (sorry, silly J. Johnson reference). In your opinion, based on experience and research, what are the best hunting arrows a bow hunter can consider putting in his quiver, and, why are they say "the best"? This should be fun

I really don't have a brand that I think is "best". I want a carbon arrow that is tough. Most are these days if you go $100 or more per dozen. It needs to be straight, .003" or better, and has over 9 grains per inch & preferably 9.5 gr. per inch. I prefer to fletch my own arrows so I get the helical I want.

I'm no expert, but I know what my bow likes. Carbon Express Pile Drivers shoot really nice out of my bow.

I'm pretty happy with my Kinetic XT's footed with an aluminum arrow shaft.

You don't have to spend a ton of money to get a (Durn good bowhunting arrow). If there are any imperfections in an arrow shaft, it will most likely be at the ends of the shaft. So, for example, if you need to cut 4 inches off of a full length shaft, instead of taking it all off of one end, take 2 inches from both ends. In most cases, this will make a cheaper arrow as true as some of the higher priced arrows. And unless you are a target shooter trying to punch the center x-ring every shot, you won't be able to tell the difference.

I like Gold Tip. Have shot the hunter pro's successfully for several years - they're bullet proof. I am trying out the kinetic pierce to see if I can get them flying as well out of a micro-diameter shaft.

Have also heard really good things about Black Eagle - but haven't tried them.

While I have no animal down, in terms of shooting and flight I have had great luck with the Sportsman's Warehouse Vital impact arrows.
They are a good GT shaft, but being "sportsman's badged" sportsmans is able to set the price as they wish rather than what GT forces all the other dealers to sell the GT brand at. $36.99 for 6 blazer vane arrows, nocks and inserts included. Used to be they only had 300-400-500 spine, but they added a bunch of spine weights last year. Typically sportsmans will cut to length and glue inserts for free as well if you buy in store.

^ agreed. Carbons have come a long way in the last 20 years....you have many good options.

It used to be that the spine consistency was poor in some lines...so you either had to put them all on a spine tester or shoot for groups with numbered arrows to cull out the ones that wouldn't group. I still shoot numbered arrows for groups [old habits....grin], but find a lot fewer culls. I shoot Easton and the Bemans but wouldn't hestitate to try other mnfrs if you get a good deal.
