Workout Thread 2017 version

Postby Tigger » 02 24, 2017 •  [Post 1]

How are the workouts coming? Give us an update!

Me? Lousy excuse, but I have just not had the time lately. Lots going on. And this is probably a great place to post this: next week while you are huffing an puffing on your workouts think of me. I will be on a Caribbean Cruise with unlimited eating. I plan to punish that buffet! (yeah, I know, it will then punish me for the next 6 months, but what the heck!)

I'm still waiting for the snow to melt up here in the inland northwest, but yeah, yeah, that's a lame excuse. Been eating good, doing some sit ups and pull ups, but the real work will start in April.

I workout year around & have trouble gaining weight so no issues here! (big grin) Have fun on that cruise! Remember, the elk don't care if you're out of shape! (grin)

Been doing 30 minutes 3-4 days a week on the spin bike since Jan 1. Not going crazy with the workouts but just trying to do more than last year.

I just got off the treadmill. I do that 5-6 times each week. I try to keep the elevation and speed up. Oly and Stringunner give me no slack. When I say no slack, I mean zero, nada, none. You would think they would wait a few minutes but not a chance. :D

To be honest, I believe I looked at your backside Swede far more than you looked at mine! Could be worse things I guess!!!
Thus the reason I had to purchase the spin bike this year.

I've been sitting and holding still while eating snacks to get ready :D ... I plan on doing plenty of sitting in 2 spots this year.

But, my wife started busting tail last week and is trying to drag me along. I have the goal of losing 40 lbs by August and I'm down 10 so far... I lost the easy 10 and now the work begins. I'm actually coming up on my hardest hiking of the year "shed hunting" is just around the corner... I hike way more looking for sheds then I do hunting in the fall.

After 2 months of sitting in a pit goose hunting, I am finally up and moving again. I have a goal of participating in a sprint triathalon this spring so I am running, doing spin class, and swimming. Sadly, I get slower every year so I am participating this year rather than competing.

This summer, I will begin to swim less and start hiking with weighted pack more as elk season approaches. I have a couple of backpacking trips scheduled this summer to test my fitness before the season.

Curly; what is "spin class"? That definitely sounds like something your wife drug you into. You are not going into politics are you?

Battling a herniated disc at the moment. Working out is being put on hold, its frustrating to say the least.

I started walking Dec 1, I've missed 3 days on the treadmill since then. I walk on my breaks at work and on the treadmill on incline at night avg 7+ miles per day. dropping some lbs I need to loose 10 more to be back were I was my last elk hunt.

Spin class is "group stationary bike riding". You have a group of early morning exercisers, and a "leader". We meet at the rec center, turn down the lights, turn on the fans, crank up the music, and pedal like crazy until the sweat is dripping! For me, it is the next best thing to running to get my heart rate up without any impact on the joints. Plus, there is the social aspect and group dynamics which are very motivating.

Love my spin bike as well. I also have a stair climber I start using around May with a pack and weight.

Today I went to the gym, got on a treadmill and ran for 90 min. while listening to a Gritty bowman podcast. It was almost enjoyable, but I would rather have been outside.

Today I chased my 4 kids around. I haven't worked out for almost 2 years. I still weigh the same as I did when I graduated high school. I go elk hunting for a little R&R ;)

I pedaled and hiked for miles today following Oly around. He sets a mean pace, but it was a lot of fun.

Going hard for last 3 weeks. Lots of step ups, lunges, plyos. If don't feel like working so hard, at least do some yoga. Going to make more effort to get going on aerobic fitness this week.

I carried my 5 year old son to church today so his boots would not get all muddy... it's only about 300 yards from my house but I count that as a work out ;)

For the last few weeks I have been working my abs, and lifting weights.
Deadlifts, squats, chest, shoulders and back.

Shed hunting while carrying a pack with a rock in it for 2 weekends.

Ate a pile of garbage food at a Daytona party today so I need to burn that off this week.

Cardio training to start Wednesday. Playing basketball. I hate running laps and stationary bikes. I suck at basketball but the workout is great.

Im always doing this or that,.. lots of walking around. Ill get a few big hikes and backpack trips in.
I need to start shooting,.. as soon as the snow melts in front of the target.
I did start a limited carb diet,. down 28 pounds. My doc is a sports specialist, and made the polite comment," Your in really great shape, for ahh" ( he wanted to say fat guy)"
I am trying to walk with my wife nightly

Curly: many of my goose hunts I can drive my ATV to the pit. While I do sit in the pit; pulling a sled through deep snow was a real work out

Yesterday I shoveled snow, Does that count
