What is the area you can't wait to get to come opening day.

I have two...
One is a water hole that is about 80 yards off the main road in an area I found on one of the last days of archery season last year. I watched I nice 6 point herd bull and 10-12 cows in it last year... very easy access and I don't think any one was hunting it last year. Only problem is I think it will be really hard to have a good set up and I would need about 10 trail cameras to help me get any information.

The other area is the back side of a big ridge I have hunted for years... we were able to buy a four wheeler last year and it will cut my hike from over 5 miles to about a mile in a half to the saddle I want to get a tree stand/blind in... with my work schedule the saddle was almost impossible to hunt and now in a short few months I will have a trail camera in a place I have wanted to hunt for years

I have two areas, 20 miles apart. One is a deep, narrow, small dark canyon. A relatively easy walk in about a mile,.. then down , too steep for cattle and sheepman.

The other location is nearly 2 miles in, 500 feet up, then 1200 feet down. A 5 acre bench, just a general hangout for elk .

Ill be hiking both in June

I have not decided on where I want to hunt yet. I have some areas I plan to place some cameras. Hopefully they will help me decide. I am looking forward to scouting this summer and then hunting in September.

Sounds exactly like this spot. Hope its not in stevens co, wa! I was actually there watching this young 6pt roll around when this pic was taken. I was bear hunting, 2 days after elk season. Several bigger bulls on cam at this wallow.

I have two spots this year that have great potential, both will have a trail camera on them, fingers crossed! (grin) Neither are wallows, one a waterhole that is about 5'X5' on a small bench & the other is a travel route from feeding to bedding, it's a sweet looking spot! (grin)

Elkhunttoo - maybe a Plotwatcher woud get you the information you need to hunt that spot. It has a wide angle lens and is great for finding out the favored arrival and exit trails to a spot, and times of use. Limitations - no night photos, not great for identifying trophy potential (pics do not enlarge well, and the animals always look tiny).

I have found a spot with great potential. A series of 5 small ponds at the top of a long ridge that holds elk. An amazing game trail followed all 5 ponds, and the fresh tracks around the ponds indicated heavy use. Might be able to put our entire group at these ponds and wait for some action. Going to try to get some pictures from this spot for sure.

This year I'm excited to hunt a new area. It's bordered by Montana & WA/OR. I've loved hunting elk in WA but want to chase rutting Bulls this year instead of cows and spikes.

May have to go it alone unfortunately. Will be bringing my ATB's to get around (all terrain boots )

Holy smokes that's a good lookin wallow. Puuuuurdy. I'm thinking you probably need a buddy to help you watch over that gem. I'll volunteer for helpin ya.

2 spots for me. First one is where I shot my bull in 2015. Hike in is fairly level to start, then up over a hump. Down all the way to the creek and then back up a whole mountainside to a series of great saddles and over the saddles to the opposite mountainside. The second spot is a big mountainside that runs for quite awhile before it bends and heads in a slightly different direction. On that bend is a ridge. And on that ridge is the most pure, picture-perfect saddle you ever will see. The only one separating two long mountainsides. Pretty long trek, but it is sooooo worth it. When you are there, it just screams elk!

I wish my water hole was as good as that... mine is a main creek bottom but the elk pounded it last year...I'm going to make some ground blinds for my wife and I to sit in... I have a picture of my wife standing in that spot and so every time I look at my phone I get to see it
