bow sights

So im making all my hunting plans around archery this year, and as such im going to be working on my bow shooting a lot. I currently have a 3 pin sight on my bow, but i want to put a 5 pin on it, to practice out to 60 yards a lot. No intention of shooting an animal that far, but i figure practicing at 50 / 60 will help me be a better shooter, and translate well into better accuracy at 20/30 yards. Soooo.... what sight is the best? sell me on a good one!

Trouble Maker. This could be argued continuously through next hunting season.
Here are some things I consider:
1. Stability--I want one that is bullet proof. Once it is set, it stays in place regardless of how hard it get treated.
2. Brightness--I want one where the pins are bright. Three quarters of the elk I shoot are taken in the late afternoon and evening. Low light conditions when even the shadows are gone is most common.
I don't like yellow pins either. Green and red are the most visible. These are the colors I prefer in low light.
3. Price--I am willing to pay a fair price but not a huge amount for good sight.
4. Simple--I don't need fancy gears or other gadgets. Keep it simple.

I just ordered a Spot Hogg Grinder MRT Custom 5 pin. S&S Archery here on the forum carries them.

I've really liked both the Montana Black Gold sights I've had. No issues at all with their functionality or durability.

I like spot hogg. They will custom build a pin guard to your specs. Pick the number of pins - 1,2,3,5,7 and two different size housings. You can pick colors of each pin individually, and sizes of each pin individually. If you eventually decide you want to try something else - you can replace the housing and pins without replacing the whole sight. Then you can pick from simple, to fully adjustable in the field.

I really like double pin setups - very little clutter with one single post I can shoot 40 yards and under without any adjustments and a very clear sight picture and then dial the range for longer practicing at 60-80 will really help you with the shorter shots.

I really want to try this one, with dual pointer to give you two pins at two ranges - dial adjustable, but currently only available on the Fast Eddie. Rumor is next year for some of spot hogg's other sights.

Currently going back and forth between a double pin and adjustable dial 5-pin to see what I shoot best.

As with just about everything in bowhunting, Get what works best for you! Often you will find that you don't have to break the bank on the latest and greatest think out there.

When it comes to sites, the only thing I'm going to say for sure is, Stay away from any of them that have exposed dangly fiber optic wires that can get caught up in the brush or easily broken.

Other than that, get what you like and what your pocket book will handle!
