Single versus dual/double cam?

Any reason one would think they need to switch to one over the other?

I have a single cam. I am not even close to an archery expert but I like my single cam b/c it seems like it would be lighter and easier to tune/keep tuned.

double cam..and i was a life-long solo cam guy.

why? one reason for me. the bow string is substantially shorter. my peep sight has never ever behaved so well, so i know there is much less stretch possiblity.

i do miss how you really didnt need to think about timing cams to each other tho.

I prefer a double or hybrid cam system that has yokes. I think you can fine tune them better than trying to shim cams. I also don't wan't to have to take axles out and swap shims around when I can simply put half a twist in a yoke leg. The doubles will outperform a single but you pay for that in the draw cycle.

The biggest drawback with the doubles used to be keeping them in tune. New and better string materials have made that a moot point. They just don't stretch/creep like they used to so once they are settled you just set it and forget it.

Dual cams have to be "timed" and single cams need to be tuned for level nock travel. Six of one, half dozen of the other. Shoot what feels best to you and deal with the individual issues.
