Wapiti River Outdoors "Rump Shaker" Tube

Postby WapitiTalk1 » 10 14, 2016 •  [Post 1]

Just a quick review on the Rump Shaker grunt tube from WRO. Well, it sounds good.....I mean real good. In an attempt to maximize the sound quality, the technicians at WRO fabricated this new tube with competition bat style tubes in mind. What does that mean? Well, they are large and in charge, and again, sound very good. The tube is IMO a bit large to drag through some of the elk alder jungles I frequent, but, it is manageable on most other hunts. Although I mention the large size as a potential issue, the size of the tube is what I believe results in the great elk sounds you can get out of this thing so it's one of those trade off things.

Here's Trav from WRO giving a technical rundown of how and why they built this tube. He also gives a short demonstration at the end of the VID of what it sounds like.

Thanks for the great post Rory.

We started out the season on Aug 25th and by 7:15 am we had our first 5x5 bull on the ground !! 6 others would soon follow as the season kicked into high gear !!

I can say this has been the best bugling season I have ever had personally as we had bulls bugling every single day from start to finish. This was the first year ever that I went every day and had at least one and sometimes multiple bulls bugling. Usually it starts out quiet for a week or so but not this year. I believe the Rump Shaker had a lot to do with all our bugling success this year.

With September gone I find myself already looking forward to another September that will be upon us soon and for me it can not come fast enough !!

I'd like to say congratulations to everyone this past season and thank you to everyone that has supported us along this awesome journey ! Thank you very much for the support and using our products.

Although I haven't shaken the rump, I have used their diaphragm calls and The Reaper is my go to call. I played with a bull for 4 hours and never made a bad sound! He was engaged the whole time. Cow calls, bugles, chuckles, you name it, he was talking back constantly. Called in 6 bulls this year all with this call.

I pretty much used the Reaper exclusively for 9 days as well. GREAT call that really does it all if you ask me. Had a lot of responses to that call throughout the week.

I agree with Rory. Great sounding tube. Would be excellent for competition but just too big for this old man to pack around in the elk woods. However, I love the rubber mouth piece on it. Trav, I hope you do well in your next competition.

Awesome to hear great results guys !!

Bill and I have talked about the next Worlds coming up This March and with his idea's and tip's I've been practicing everything he has mentioned and I'm seeing very promising results !! I've got 3.5 months of practice to go yet and I feel we are well on our way to a better then 3rd place finish this year !!

I have a plan of going big on this one but the small details are what's going to make the difference !! I don't want to give any of my routine away as of yet as I know my competitors will be reading this as well but I'll break my routine down for you all once we are finished at the competition. I will say this......come March in Salt Lake City the house will be rockin !!!!
