Unit 80 and 81 1st Rifle

Postby Shey1979 » 10 03, 2016 •  [Post 1]

Just curious to see if there is anyone else on this forum that will be hunting unit 80 or 81 in first rifle this year. Myself and 4 buddies will be headed up on 10/13. We are bringing horses and will be going in deep.

Is this in Colorado? I used to hunt 80 out of Monte Vista around Sheep Mountain, Silver Mountain, Windy Mountain, Greenie Mountain etcc....... Met a local family last name Clounch (sp). Bucky and his brothers, were colorful characters. Good Luck.

Yes this in Colorado. I hunted this area for 3 years back around 1999.

4 of us went and 4 of us ate tag soup this year. Maybe next year. I think we will try a different unit. There are a few elk in deep pockets but they never move due to over pressure. :(

Bowhunted 80 back in '14. Saw a couple nice bulls and great country. Thinking about rifle hunting it next year. I stayed with a couple in South Fork that I met in Vegas at RMEF. Very nice people in the area.
