rangefinder in fog

Hunting in thick fog right now, just waiting for it to clear hopefully. Tried ranging a couple things i could see that are clearly in the 60-80 yard range. Rangefinder just keeps reading 16-19. Sometimes wont read at all. Is this just from the fog or am i sol? Vortex ranger 1000.

It's the fog Dean. You'll get the same effect if you try to use your rangefinder thru a screen door (not that I hunt through a screen door, lol). Guess is the water droplets in the fog that the RF detects, not sure.
