So I was out camping, just playing with the elk,,,,no tag. A friend came by my camp and said that he hadn't seen anything decent and was struggling. I told him that I called in a nice 6X6 a couple of days ago and could probably get him out again for him. Got one bugling, but not hot at all! Finally decided to walk in on him,,,,which we did and ended up with this picture from a friend who took it looking at us from the main road. No radios to tell us what he was,,,,I know, pretty stupid huh? It looks like we are about 20 yards apart but really it was about 50. We are on a hill looking up at this bull and him looking down,,,,,couldn't really see each other that great! Couldn't get a really good look at was he was carrying! My son, (not in the picture) to my left motioned us over! He had him in his vortexes perfectly still on a tripod. When my friend saw him, he put a shell in his gun, but the bull started walking and by now was about 80 yards away! So he shot,,,,and missed! I know,,,,really? The bull turned down a little draw and headed for some trees. I called like a cow in estrus, the bull stopped to look back,,,,now being fairly broadside, and my friend dropped him like a rock,,,,through the neck! He is a nice 7x6, and 1/2 inch more he would have been a 7x7!:( I had seen this bull and called him in pretty close for the past few years messing around, but didn't know he was in there again yet, and no this was not the 6x6 I had called in a couple of days previous! Anyway lots of fun and a very happy friend!!
