I have a good walkie talkies wonder what channels I should be using to communicate with my friend at camp? It has 1.1 etc channels, don't want to be on the emergency channel for McCall but should find out in case? Thanks!

The best channel for are group is 1.0 it has the best range and it is not emergency channel

Just be aware that you might end up with a bunch of other people using the same channel. We typically try to keep ours random to avoid others using our channel.

We run on 2.7 because the 27th is my buddies birthday.

This may be the wrong forum for this, but I am wondering. I have a bunch of walkie talkies. Cobras, midlands, Motorola are all in my storage drawer again now. The Motorola is the oldest except for the 40 channel CB radios. The Motorola radios are reliable and the only ones to go to hunting camp. They only claim they can reach 2 miles, while the others claim they can reach up to 6 miles. Still the Motorola reaches out better than the others. The Motorola radios are a little bigger than the others, going back some years, but they work great. What gives?

Thank you swede, you always come up with great ideas. I'll just have to climb to the top of a mountain to see if I can reach camp, yes it says 6 plus miles. 11 more days and I head to elk camp. I have butterflies in my belly! I hope my dream comes true, as I've had such a dry spell!
