Couple Quick Questions Before I head Back In

Had some good hunting last week. Seemed to me the bulls are fired up ready to fight. Had 2 nice bulls close, they had no cows with them. They were not interested in cow calls. Just fighting. What does this mean in regards to timing of the full rut?

I came across a few bulls that were glunking on the other side of the trees. Setup to try and cow call them in and they had no interest. this happened a few times and always in the morning around 730-900AM. Any thoughts on what these bulls were saying?

Cows are not in estrus yet I'd say

is it common or possible that cows are not in estrus yet at one place/location. Then 25 miles away they are?

Very possible. A mature well fed cow that did not breed last year can come into estrus much earlier (even in late Aug) than her herd-mates who did produce a calf.

I don't know half of what saddlesore may know, but my gut reaction is that there were ready-to-breed (or nearly-so) cows that had their attention. Hence a lack of interest in you.
