my name is Stuart, nice to meet you! I've been reading through the forums and decided to stop lurking and start contributing.

I think my next purchase is going to be a wall tent. On average, how long do they take to put up?

Hi and welcome to the forum. I purchased a 16x20 wilderness tent from The Wall Tent Shop and love it. We made our own frame from EMT conduit which was pretty simple. As far as setting it up, my buddy and I can do it in under 45 minutes with putting the 8' extended awning on it. Hope that helps.

Welcome aboard Stuart, glad to have you around our elk hunting campfire! Ya, about and hour to put up a wall tent I guess with the ground prep (brushing, raking, etc.); make sure the canvas is 100% dry when you put it away after a hunt.

Thanks for the additional advice. It being dry hadn't even crossed my mind in the slightest...I would have mildew issues out the wazoo otherwise!

No, not impossible to put up by yourself. I have 16x20 Montana tent and a 16x20 Davis. I have put them up by myself BUT much easier with the angle kit and conduit rather than using a ridge pole cross members on each end.

Welcome to a great hunting site. Also welcome to the wonderful world of wall tents. I sold my pickup camper 4 years ago and bought a 16x20 wall tent from Davis Tent and Awning in Denver.
Absolutley love the tent. We use it for elk camp, Michigan youth hunt weekend, and a Michigan bow camp every year. My boys look forward to camping in the tent for youth hunt every year.

They are not the quickest tents to set up, but once they are set up it just feels like home away from home. From the back of the pickup to set up is 30 minutes for just the tent. This was by myself. Setting up the stove, rain fly, awning, cots, another 30 minutes.
You can save yourself some money by going with the frame kit and buying the EMT conduit from your local hardware. The owner ordered me 1 bundle of conduit and lent me a large pipe cutter to cut it with. There are tons of youtube videos on how to setup the tent and fold it for storage. I would recommend watching the videos as you can pick up little things from different videos that might work for your situation.

Thanks for the tips. I will spend some time in front of youtube watching tips and tricks. I'll probably do a blog post about all the stuff I learned. I did similar with vacuum sealers once I figured out what to look for, I wrote a big blog post about it.

It sounds like since putting up the tent is a bit of a challenge, that it will feel really good once it is up and I will be able to enjoy the space that much more!
