It's seems like it's going to be a wet hunting season how much does it change the way you hunt and does really affect elk that much for being vocal? I don't mind hunting in a light rain since I have good rain gear unless it's lightning and heavy down poor I usually get out of the woods. So how do y'all deal with it?

Love it, favorite time to be out. Even if it gets monsoon type I want to be in a good spot the second it starts to lighten up. Some of my best encounters have been during or right before or after a good storm.

Elk don't move around during down pours. They hunker down unless pushed out by a hunter. However, you need to be out there when it quits.Ditto for snow.
Myself,I hunt for the enjoyment of it. Getting soaked to the under draws is not part of it.Even with good rain gear,it isn't a great experience. You spend an hour in the rain and the next 8 hours drying everything out.

Thanks Mike you'll definitely hear about it! I was up there two weekends ago and stayed pretty wet my biggest concern is the lightning...saw plenty of trees with lightning marks and just don't know if I want to be under trees! I'm going to hunt no matter what just figured I see what everyone else did.

I will be packing a small tarp in the day pack just for rainy days. I absolutely love chasing turkeys right after a rain shower.

Lightening is a VERY serious threat up here, even more so when you get up in elevation. Was only at 9500 over the weekend with thunder-hail and lightening. Not cool when your shorts are down doin' your business and a streak flashed across the ravine.

I'll second being out there just as its letting up, but caution is necessary. Seems like some pretty severe storms this early fall here in SW Colorado.
