I'm so very excited I bought my OTC tags for elk, not just one, but took advantage of the discounted tag too! Its going to be hard to keep my feet on the ground! Bullet's are going to be here on the 8th so I can fine tune my ammo and shooting! I'm so happy. This has been a hard week my mom has multiple heart attacks and strokes, and can't live alone, so with that I brings a heavy heart, I hope with therapy shell get back on her feet.

Thank you she's going to need a lot of prayers. If we can get her moving I think she'll be able to be a lot happier, can't imagine if I couldn't hike into the woods, it would be the end of me! Her spirits are good.

Shooter: I too am sorry to hear about your mom. I will pray for her and you too. Are you an ammo reloader? I shot a 50 cal. hunting rifle this week with some special hand loads. I made three shots using 750 grain bullets. How many ways can you say "KICKS like a mule"?

That's like being hit with the requoil of a cannon! Wow, what are you shooting with 750 grain? thank you for taking the time to include me & my mom in your daily prayers. She is gaining strength today. But still will need assistant living arrangements. The care taker didn't check on her last week and she laid in her bathroom on the floor for 3 days, she's lucky she didn't brake a bone. I'll be so blessed to bring home a branch elk, bought the second tag to share with families who need the meat! As I'm lucky to be able to hunt! My new boots are here, and bullets. My gun was shot last night and its so accurate! Very happy for my 308 Remington, looks like a kids size gun, but I love shooting it and it doesn't kick me into next week. You must be a big strong man?

My son's father in law is a gunsmith that builds wildcat guns for people. He wanted to test a new one. I have no idea why anyone in their right mind would want such a rifle. I am no great physical specimen and no masochist either. I could shoot the gun, but now that is over, I have no desire to do it again. If anyone wants such a gun, I will give you the name of a very competent gunsmith. A side note on this is that the price of a Kevin Wyatt gun is not for the faint of heart either. Still, if you want a one of a kind custom rifle his prices are no worse than any other. He does great work.
I too like a 308 W rifle. That is the caliber of gun I shoot most.

My mom is doing much better, I found a great adult family home 5 miles from my house. She can stand and take a few steps. She has on set of demenia, after all this, she has quit smoking after 60 some years, I guess she didn't remember or figures she'll never be able to go outside on her own, best she doesn't anyway. My dad passed away about 2 1/2 years ago he was 85 with a weak heart. When I was young I went deer hunting with him, I carried the heart and liver out in my new white tee shirt, mom would pick shaggy mane mushrooms and we have that for our first meal after dad got his deer. I'm hoping to be able to go Bear hunting soon as it cools down. I figure at that time they'll start growing a nice coat. Miss the woods! I really don't like the heat like the bears!

Tomorrow is a great day! Mom is moving to adult family home that is caring, clean. Moved some of her wall photos, clothes etc.. The nursing home wasn't the best. Glad she's moving. I read on another thread about sheep! What's the scoop, because where I plan on rifle hunting I saw sheep, do they push elk out? Will the sheep still be there mid October? What can I expect! Yes I'm worried I may need a plan B?
