My Elk Calling Arsenal

So, what are your main human made noises you use in the heat of elk battle in Elktember? Are you relegated to only using cow sounds...... bull sounds?

im learning how to use the entire plethera of calls and sounds that are in all of Elknut's stuff. Cant wait to put them all to use in just over a months time in CO.

Depends on the encounter at hand! I will employ about every sound or natural movements elk make at one time or another during the month of Sept. I don't use the same ones on most encounters. Some encounters require all cow sounds while others are all bull sounds! Then there are those they get both cow & bull sounds, how much of each depends on the bulls aggressiveness for one over the other! When distance is involved between me & the bull I heard or saw I cut that distance as quick as I can before hardly anymore calling is done by me, I do not wait back for elk to come over my way just because they may have responded to me, I go to them then work the needed magic! Each situation is different, and what I will do next, or elk sounds to employ will depend entirely on what I heard or saw. Cutting the distance to the bull, and having a good setup, would be my first priorities.

I like the bull sounds most, but Swede snoring is good too. I definitely have had them come in while I was drifting in and out of consciousness.

4 diaphragms, also 2 carlton external reed cow calls left over from before I used diaphragms.

I've got the primos 3 mouth reed kit, a Rocky Mountain calls all star mouth reed, a Rocky Mountain calls open reed cow call and a Rocky Mountain calls bugle tube. I'll use the bugle tube to bugle as well get a little more range out of my cow calls. I'm also pretty decent at bugling without a reed and have used that with some success when I can't get Bulls to answer the mouth reeds. As well as no reed cow calls, but I get horse after a while so I try not to do that to much. I will use every call in elk nuts playbook in different situations. Sometimes just cows sometimes just Bulls sometimes both. Also depends if I have another person calling we will join in together bull in front, I bugle he's behind me cow calling. Trying to get the herd bull thinking a little bull came in and stole one of his cows. Works in some situations
