Bear Shock Fence

Has anyone tried the udap electro bear fence (operated by 2D batteries)? I just picked one up at Cabela's on clearance $50 (originally $225). Does anyone have one and used it, and can share results? Obviously I don't put 100% trust in it, and will still properly store any food, but want something to hopefully let me get better sleep in bear country.

They are the bear experts. I would just bring an extra set of batteries.
If found one for that price I would buy it. There is a lot to be said about sleeping better in bear country. I just need to get my wife to quit eating in the tent
