New Arrows?

Okay boys, lets open up this can of worms. I am thinking about new arrows. Anyone wanna share there thoughts? 63# with a 28" draw length. I am shooting Beman ICS Bowhunters 400 and I think they may be a whisker too flimsy for my bow. My accuracy went down when I went to 125 grain field points and really took a dive when I put on my 125 gr Slick Tricks. My total arrow weight right now is about 412 grains and I am flinging them around 268 fps.

Anyone want to opine?

I'm no expert by any means, but I had a similar situation with my FMJs this past year. I pull a couple more pounds and shoot 100 gr Slicks instead, but other than that we're very similar. Out of a dozen 400 spined FMJs, I had 8 or 9 that flew good with no issues equipped with Slicks, but the others were simply inconsistent. I bought 1/2 dzn 340 spined arrows this year all 6 fly great with broadheads. Good luck.

How long are the arrows?

If your accuracy changed then it may be a spine issue. Get a few 340's and see if that makes any difference.

Curious if you tried and nock tune the other six arrows too get them to fly better.

if you would post your bow make and model I can run it through a program and let you know your exact spine for your bow.

Sometimes finding the perfect arrow can be difficult, especially with trad gear. I just got done making what I considered the perfect arrow...a super skinny bloodsport with double reinforcement at the end...it shot terrable. Just going to stick with my axis in the 340. I shoot 55 @ 28.

I have a Mattews Z7 Extreme. 28" draw, 63#, 268 fps, and I wear a size 9.5 boot and my favorite meal is spaghetti! I throw that stuff in cuz this bow stuff just cracks me up on how many things you need to know!

I put your arrow length the same as your draw and it ends up with a soft spine. according to what I have it says your bows would need a .3495 spine. a 340 or 350 spine arrow with a 125gr tip would be perfect for your setup. a little stiffer than called for but not much, nothing you will notice at least. sorry for the late response.

i had the same arrows you are shooting at 64 lb at 28 5/8 with a 30inch draw and they would not handle the 125 grain heads, just a little to soft. either drop back to 100grain or go up to 340s, once you do that i cranked back up the bow to 70 and they are shooting great with 125gr. Bow is a Quest Drive.

If you're looking to switch, give Element a try. I just switched to their Typhoons this year and am more than impressed with their performance.
