Open/Stalk or Thick Timber Calling

Postby TurkeyBowMaster » 07 08, 2016 •  [Post 1]

A couple areas I am looking at in Idaho have different habitat. One area is open with scattered timber and the other has thick timber. Success rates are about the same for both areas but the more open area has many more roads and closer to towns. Which would you prefer and why?

I like the open hot/dry area for tree stand hunting. I prefer to find places with limited water, then set a stand where there is spring/wallow showing good evidence of use.
I don't like calling where there are a lot of roads and competing hunters. Roads, and hunters driving around are a pain.
