So.....Coming to Colorado this October.

Will be off road with my truck till we reach our parking spot. Then unload the ATV and drive to the camp site 6-8 miles more.

Question is.....Do I need an OHU permit for both the pickup and ATV (2 permits), or only one for the ATV??? We will be in the Arapaho National Forest.

You will only need one for the OHV. Be aware though that you cannot just go off road anywhere. A vehicle such as your truck is only permitted to drive a 100 yards (I believe that is the correct figure, it might be less) off county, state, or Forest Service roads to a camp site.. Neither your truck or OHV is permitted to travel off roads or trails to retrieve game,etc. All National Forests, BLM and State Lands have Travel Management designations on their maps. In addition all NF and BLM trails have signage as to what is permitted on that trail. If you venture off those trails ,the penalty is pretty stiff. Also like poachers, the other hunters and trail users, are pretty quick to report any type of abuse.

Be aware much of the signage "disappears"
Ive run across two fellows scouting for outfitters,.. both went off trail with ATV's and it cost them plenty
A neighbor whine to me it cost him $100 and 40 hours of community service ( firearm safety training and baseball coach) He drove in to where they use to have a camp site.

I use to hunt/ camp in an ATV restricted area. A great way to gain further in access. But like saddle sore mentioned trail users are quick to report violators.
I had a 27" 5x5 pegged, everyday for 2 weeks at 7:05-7:15 he strolled over the hill to bed. I was in my treestand hours earlier just at light a local fellow rode his ATV and bumped the 5x5 ,.. I had words with them, then had the CO "visit" with them.
