Hunting Grizzly country

I'm sure this subject has been bought up before at one point in time. If it has, please point me in the right direction so I may review the thread. The flatlanders in my group have zero experience in archery elk hunting in griz country. Any advice on how to approach hunting in these types of units would be greatly appreciated. I do have a can of bear spray that I will be carrying around and hope this will save me from becoming bear bait if the situation arises Let it be known that I have never seen a griz in the wild and not sure if there are different signs to look for that are different from black bears ...Thanks in advance and hope everyone is ready for the upcoming season.

Look for the shoulder hump. They have wider heads and broader shoulders as well. Don't rely on that lighter brown color, I've seen many black bears (Called color phase) with the same coloring as grizzlies. My advice would be to see them first and stay as far away as possible. They're cool to watch from far away.

If you happen to bump into one, some say to play dead. In an intense, close encounter when adrenaline kicks in, dropping to the ground is not what I would do. Fight to the death if you have to and go out a warrior. Watch the movie Legends of the Fall if you need inspiration!

Every one should carry spray
Don't camp in thick cover such as creek bottoms

I keep running into parts of a group of hounds man that got a bit beat up by a bear
Griz are generally protecting territory, cubs or food

I spoke with an outfitter today,.. he has guided/ packed in grizz country for 20 years. Moose to him are a bigger concern/threat

Good one Wawhitey I don't pack a sidearm as I am more deadly with bear spray. Lol.
