Around 100 days left

Postby Backyard » 05 26, 2016 •  [Post 1]

Not that I'm counting, but there's only about 100 days give or take till we get to realize a year of prep and anticipation.
Anybody else getting giddy yet?

If all you are getting is "giddy" you haven't gotten the full-blown elk fever I have. Wait until you answer one of the wife's questions with a nervous grunt or try and find her with a locator bugle! Actually, probably better to not do that. trust me.

The other night I woke up in the middle of the night in a slight panic because I haven't yet ordered all the elk calls I need from Wapiti River. Then I realized it was May.

I have only 92 full days left to wait. But who's counting? In the meantime I have a week long scouting trip planned, and will leave five days early to get everything prepared.

I'm going nuts just the last week or so. I thought having a slight distraction of my first Ironman the 21st of August would curb some of this, but man I'm still stoked. I think part of it is I know these last three months will fly by with my training on top of normal life.

Have been shooting regularly, going over gear, made 5 safety lines for my stands this past weekend, and heading up in three weeks to place a few cameras. Also ordered a new pair of vortex binos today as I had some gift cards for cabelas. Great sale going on there. Also am debating between purchasing a new rest for the bow or buying a Millinium m100u treestand. Can't decide. Maybe I will buy the rest and sit in Swedes stand again! 8-)

Summer break starts today,..My goal is 30 nights somewhere in elk country before season.. It doesnt work out too well teaching school and hunting seasons.
But Im a hardcore every Saturday outdoors-man, with very few Saturdays to mow the lawn.

Ive been shooting daily, and working on losing 25 lbs by elk season. I want my mountain legs back.
Monday is about finding cows and does with calves. Maybe stomping around the snow drifts up high

It's 106 days before we head west and 107 days till were are at the trail head. I have been counting down for a while now. I can't wait I am definitely in the best shape I have been in and have really built-up some strength. It's been tough to maintain a steady work out, but it seems to be getting easier.
