airing out a new op up blind?

Postby Mike_Parson » 04 05, 2016 •  [Post 1]

I just got a new Big Cat 350 blind and was wondering what all you other blind hunter do with yours when you get a new one. do you air it out at home before you put it out in the field or just air it in the field? i live in the city and i was worried that airing it out at home might inject city smells into the blind before i set it up and then it would take longer to get it aired out and get rid of the factory smell.

Mike- I live in the city too and I just set my blinds up in the back yard, hose them down, then let it dry out. I have a blue spruce tree in my yard so when I put the tent away I cut off a piece of branch with good green needles to store in the bag with it. Just make sure everything is dry when you store your blind so it doesn't get mold. When I set up them up to hunt I brush them in to help hide them visually, and help cover the scent.

I washed mine down with sport wash and let it sit out for a week. It still had an odor.
When I packaged it back up I rolled dried sage in it.

I just got it down from storage for the bear hunt. My guess the black fabric still has an odor. If it does this time Ill wrap it up in Zeolite
