RMEF Banquet Season!

Postby WapitiTalk1 » 04 02, 2016 •  [Post 1]

Anybody attending your local (or distant) RMEF Banquet this year? I'm heading to the Mt. Rainier Chapter (Puyallup, WA) this evening. Will be attending with one of our WT members, Lamrith (Larry). We're hoping that one of us walks out with a cool raffle prize! Oh yah, it's also a great way to help the foundation raise funding for what they do for elk habitat and species perpetuation. There's certainly no other organization out there like it.

Went to our local one here in Virginia and came home with two more guns. A Walther .380 and a Remington 257 Weatherby Magnum. Will go to West Virginia one next weekend.

We didn't walk away with anything, but it was a great event!! Good food, good people, night talking about Elk. Glad to have become a member now after attending the banquet.

I will say I also liked seeing my Sportsmans club all dolled up for the event, many thanks to the TSC and RMEF crews for a great event and all their hard work to make it happen.

Joining is a basic way to support RMEF. Banquets are a fun way to support them. Volunteering is another way. It is a great organization, now actively opposing legislative efforts to sell public lands.

We had ours back in January, it's always a great time. I'm on our local committee, and we are always looking for new ideas to spice up our banquet. So if any of had any neat games or unique prizes/auction items that went over well please share them. I'm not above stealing good ideas!

Ben, they did have one game at this banquet that I hadn't seen before. Called it the Heads or Tails game. At some point before festivities started and folks were placing their raffle tickets in buckets, buying various big item raffle tickets, and bidding on the silent auctions, a person could purchase a large card (probably 5X8") with a photo of a elk head on one side (heads) and the backside of an elk (tails) on the other. Once we got around to doing this game, you would hold your card up (heads or tails) facing the stage and the committee person would flip a coin. If you guessed correctly (heads or tails), you kept going. Once we got down to the last five folks, they went up to the stage and did same drill till there was a winner! Can't remember what the prize is but the contest itself was fun for all.

That is a fun game and really cool with the elk poster! It usually brings the excitement of the crowd up a notch.....good game to have everybody stand up and stretch a bit too! We have done a similar one at a school fundraiser in the past....minus the elk posters!

Im a member but currently not a participant. I may go to the Idaho Falls banquet with my daughter.
Her work seems (Sportsmans warehouse) to be willing for her to go bass, turkey mulie, and pheasant banquets.
I am a bit disappointed that there aren't more RMEF chapters in this part of Idaho
