What Broadheads for Turkey

I'm looking for a 125gr broadhead to use for Turkey season. I'm considering the NAP Spitfire Gobbler Getter since it's available in 125gr. Anyone use anything from RAGE or recommend any others? I want one that comes with a practice head.

Not sure if this matters, but I'm shooting a 60lb Full Throttle, arrow weight w/125gr Broadhead is 493 grains at 291fps.

I have killed some toms with the NAPs and they did fine. I have also used regular fixed blade broadheads with success but they pass through easier. I have not had much success getting the big Gilloutine type turkey heads to fly well and have not taken any toms with them. Hope this helps narrow it down some.

I used a wasp jackhammer last year. Worked great. I was surprised how tuff a turkey is. Spine shot and I did not get a pass through. Turkey tipped over and it was lights out. I used one of the broadheads to practice with then just took it apart and sharpened the blades. Enjoy your hunt.

I think it was on Red arrow a couple years ago. He lost a couple birds after what looked like solid hits. So he took his bow fishing rig and it worked great. Quite a bit easier trailing job with a string and a bouncing bird on the end.

I've been using Trophy Ridge Sidewinders for years. 2 1/4 in. open I think. They fly like field tips, so no need for practice tips. Double up on the binder if you plan on shooting through a blind screen.
Keep in mind that the trick is to not pass thru. I turn my bow down to 50 lbs for turkey, and aim for the upper part of the wing on a broadside to pin and disable the wing at the same time getting vitals that are directly behind. And unlike deer and elk, ya gotta get up and go after em right after the shot. They're a tough animal, and they will run from time to time even when they are dead to rights.

I just shot a couple of Turkeys this weekend with a Grim Reaper RazorTip. Performed very well. But I am going to try the Gobbler Getters by NAP as they have a larger cutting diameter and the blunt tip makes sense on Turkeys.

You have a better chance of getting your Turkey if the arrow stays in the bird, and does not pass through. I have never had any success following a Turkey blood trail - you either watch them die, or you grid search - no fun.

I also have not had success with the guillotine type heads - too fragile and touchy for me

I have my best success keeping the shot placement high. I like the walking away angle, through the spine and out the upper chest above the beard. Kills em and does not spoil the meat. Also frequently encountered angle.

Forget Broadheads...
Use Magnus Bullheads..OMG!!
