Anyone have any tricks, best practices, or recommended tools for hanging your food at night in bear country?

I just use a stuff sack and some para cord to hang it on a limb.

I admit I don't do too well in that category. We have camped by bear poles and haven't used them. Some back country areas in Wyoming on hiked trails will have bear boxes, just like campsites in campgrounds or dispersed camp sites.
Generally I put food in the cab of the pickup,.. Or a park the trailer with bear bait a couple hundred yards from camp .
Our scout troop plans to put ropes over limbs from two trees, tie the bag in the middle then pull them up,.. that does take a bunch of rope/cord

Take a small pulley. It will make life much easier. Hanging stuff can be difficult. It's one of the prices you pay to hunt grizzly country. So I prefer to take the time to get a pulley strung up so I don't have to struggle in the dark mornings and evenings when I'm tired which is when you're always dealing with it. Plus with a pulley you can use smaller rope or cord so that makes up for the weight and space the pulley takes up. Also.... a pulley gives you the ability to hoist more weight and might come in handy when you hang meat while you get the first load out.
