WINNER, WINNER, WINNER! Swede's first bull hit the dirt using a 6.5X55 mm Swedish Mauser Model 94, on that fateful day back in 1964. Heh Well I am a 6.5guy (Grendel) myself. I looked at all the wide range of responses and nobody got it and I noticed nobody had said 6.5 and then your name..... Much overlooked round honestly, "6.5 Swede" has been dropping big game in Europe for well over a century if I remember correctly.

Yup, and we had rifling in the bore of the barrel too, and no flared end. Very few had anything other than iron sights though, so we still had a ways to go.

I was born in 75 so I'm assuming everyone hunted that way in the 60's

There never was a picture. You need a camera for that. The gun cost about $18, and a box of Norma cartridges was about $4.00 more. That was more than we could afford. It was my first bull, and the largest I ever killed. It is only a memory now. Less than a year later I left home and was in the Navy at the ripe old age of 17. I went from being provided for to a support for the family.
