Back to elk hunting, what would you say is the one thing in your "elk" game that needs the most improvement? OK, you can list up to two items if you'd like to.

Moving 15 hours closer would help. I think lol. I think for me understanding what elk are saying when they are bugling or cow talking, and in return talking back.

Short story: OK a long story
A good friend and old hunting partner and I are not golfers. An end of the school year activity the two of us chose the school driving range activity. A bucket of balls and a few drivers. It was raining and we didn't have any students the whole day. The teacher who set up the activity was a golf pro and dabbled in professional golfing came out and suggested he watch us hit some balls,.. more for his entertainment than anything.
This was before " Happy Gilmore" ; and we were the hockey coaches.
Todds first drive,.. cut the top of a lot of grass for about 60 yards,.. ,.. My drive did about the same thing the same thing. The pro just laughed! Todds next drive was long; the ball bounced once and went over the school fence. My drive barely cleared the fence. The pro then became quite animated, how his driving game is what kept him in education. and why he wasnt golfing professionally. He started pacing and stomping around cursing the clubs. We thought it was funny.
He set up another ball and tee for each of us saying there was no way either of us could drive a ball that far again. Todd swung, the ball his the house roof and bounced over the house, My ball just cleared the ridge cap of the house.
The pro went ballistic,.. an extremely childish act that had Todd and I in hysterics.

Im not sure of the physics,.. but that day Todd drove a ball that went between his legs,.. and for a fraction of a second we were both a bit panicked
The pro left. Todd and I swung at balls the rest of the day and never got close to that fence again

For me it'd be take it slower as I seem to miss a lot of game because I'm walking so fast. And to learn to call better!

Cow calling with a mouth reed (other than a nervous grunt) and recognizing or reading the encounters instantaneously so that auto pilot kicks in on every single encounter. It seems that I'm very good in some instances and not so good in others when recognizing what's going on.

#-1 for me is more Patience!!!! Anyone know where I can pick some up? I'm sorta high strung! (grin) #-2 without a doubt is a Decoy! There are only one or two instances per year they can come in handy on our hunts where one is needed but for the life of me I rarely turn to them or carry one! That is going to change! I have the Poison Arrow one & like it but I need one that is in front of me & not to the side. James makes a great one but in thick country that we hunt it's tough to use right when I need it most!
