Thanks for posting. If others read this and say "no way, that could never happen," they need to get current. There are major campaigns around the country to force federal lands into state control. This land is your land, this land is my land, but not if politicians in UT, CO and elsewhere have their way.

The whole idea of turning lands over to what ever the current argument scares me,.. whether its states and counties, private parties and corporations( ranchers and miners, and the whole Bunde thing) .
Or the wealthy to pay off tax burdens.

The feds gave states land to run public education. Look at what has happened to states that sold school trust lands to operate those schools ( mostly eastern states)
Now not every state can run their public education like Wyoming or Alaska, they have more money than they can spend.
Minnesota sold most of its ag state land( to large land owners) build their country school , ran out of money then taxed the public.
Most western states less than 10 % of school funding come from taxes,
States will do the same thing all over again, with the lands and moneys they had, and the short term choices
The lands for public education first to 8th grade doesn't look anything like its original intention. Money is now used to universities( the biggest hog) state mental hospitals, prisons and detention, on and on.

 Yes lets sell public lands to billionaires like Ted Turner and lock up hunting access like he did in many states, protect it forever from the common person. ( Yes I knowe what he did in Montana, but I would guess that was because of the money Montana offered him.

Check out the article in this month "Bugle"

This subject gets me rolling, the state of Minnesota just leasing the current ag lands in 1000 of the townships would cover 30 % of the states public health /education.
Greedy land owners got their way 160 years ago,.. it still hasnt changed
