Bear Fence

Looking to purchase one of the electric bear fences that packs down to only 5x20 inches and just over 3 pounds. Cost around $250.

Hunting archery in heavy griz country. Anyone have experience with these. Are they necessary/work?

They will definitely get you more sleep but the fact is most bear encounters occur while you are out hunting/calling.

Yes fencers work. I borrowed that exact kit this past fall. but after hunting around and not seeing and bear sign we never set it up. You can get a cheaper setup by making your own. Go to any Agway or farm supply store and buy a fencer and some tape and insulators. Gallagher is a very common brand and that's what most outfitters are using for portable back country corrals.
