New Vortex 1500 Yard Rangefinder!

Postby ElkNut1 » 12 21, 2015 •  [Post 1]

Just a heads up that Vortex has a New 1500 Yard Rangefinder coming out Feb 1st! It has 3- LED modes of brightness in red. It has Incline & Decline Angle Compensation through full range of distance! It has Yards & Meter Modes. All in all it looks pretty sweet! My Son & I will be first in line though so you'll have to get in behind us! (grin) Looks like we'll have a couple of used Ranger 1000's up for sale! (grin) There are only so many allotted so if any are interested PM here or email me elknut@elknut.com

Dean, nothing is available yet except to us dealers. Do you have a question about them? Thanks!

Just curious about all the basic stats. Magnification, basic functions like can you hold the button down for continuous scan, is the angle compensation auto or is it a mode you have to select, pricing, any relevant info really. My ranger 1000 works just fine and dandy, but you know, new toys are always fun.

Good questions! Yes, continuous scan, awesome! I didn't see the power but it's 6 or 8X. You select the Angle compensation mode & it stays there until you change it. It does not turnoff when unit shuts down, very nice! It will run aprox 439.00

My 1000 takes three clicks to take a reading. One click to wake it up, one click to turn on the "x" in the viewfinder, and finally one click to take reading.

Is the 1500 the same way? I gotten to where it is a habit where I do the first click on the move up to me eye.

Cliff, just talked with Vortex & the New 1500 has 2 clicks & they also were excited to mention that it is lightning fast in readouts! Gosh I can't wait for them, very cool! (grin)

Fantastic. That third click is the Achilles of the 1000. Sprinkle in some elk excitement and I'm clicking away like a fool. :).

Two clicks is about perfect

Perfect timing! My current rf started malfunctioning this year so I will be needing new one. I was considering the Ranger but i`m not fond of the 3 click thing....

Yes, I hear ya. Really the 3 click thing is fairly easy to deal with. My rangefinder sits on my horizontal pack strap or tether at my waist. When I grab for it I click it, then when I have it to my eye I click for crosshair & reading. It becomes second nature after a while of use. Now with the new one being 2 clicks I'll now have to get used to that! (grin) It just takes a few times to build in the memory!

Thanks!
