I just need a tad more room for my small Tacoma. Love them or hate them?

Big fan. Use it on my Pathfinder and wife's Forester. Get a sturdy one, even if it seems a little heavy. Found mine on CL.

love it. great for gas cans our coolers. they bang around a little bit but we just bungee cord them to the bumper. Hard on the shin's if your not watching

I recently changed from a tent camp to a small 6&1/2 ft slide in pop up camper in my Dodge short bed.The I tow a bumper pull 3 horse slant trailer.That gives me a lot of room. However,the few times I don't take the trailer, I am shy on room as floor space in that short camper is at a premium.

I picked up a cargo hauler at Harbor Frieight on sale for $49.Good for 300 pounds. Now I can put one big cooler on the camper and one on the hauler,plus a water can .It also serves as a step into the camper, so I don't have to take my fold up stairs along.

No need to pay $100-$150 for one.Watch Harbor Freight or Northern Tool for sales

Yeah man Harbor Freight is a good place to check first for lots of things. Can't beat the prices and as long as it doesn't have moving parts it will be solid enough.

I like mine. I don't use it that often. Can't remember the brand but it's nothing special. It's probably good for 300 pounds like mentioned above. I had mine maxed out once. But that's a lot of weight to have such a narrow center point for it to pivot on. Mine actually sagged really low on the one side and yes I did take the time to make sure the weight was balanced out. So I took 2 ratchet straps and put one to each rear corner of the basket. I ran those up over the tailgate and hooked the other end on the tie down hooks in the bottom corners of the bed for support and to keep it from rocking even a little bit. Solid as a rock after that.

No doubt they give you more room when you're truly filled to the top in the truck.

I found this on amazon when I was looking at a hitch mounted tire rack for my Cherokee. I plan to give it a shot for my hitch basket as it wobbled when I used it once.

I bought an aluminum one at Harbor freight. $69. I used it once for empty coolers with the plan of an elevated platform on our ATV for the dog.

Most of that wobble comes from the receiver bar fitting loose into the receiver itself. I shimmed mine with a .060 piece of mild steel.Top and one side.
It goes in with light tapping with a small hammer all the way to the pin. Comes out easily when you pull the cargo carrier

Worked like a charm.

My weight distribution hitch fits loose too and that fixed it.
I always have steel around the place of one sort of another, but you can buy smaller quantities from Home Depot or farm stores like Big R.
It cuts easy with a fine tooth blade in a saber/jig saw
