I am looking to buy some quality hunting clothes and would like to know some opinions on what brands work best. These clothes would be used for hunts anywhere from mid September through mid November in Colorado. Any information is greatly appreciated.

First welcome to the forums Catman.

I use both. I am not familiar with Core 4 outerwear though. I use their merino base layers. I have Sitka merino bases as well. Either one is fine. I wear all Sitka for outer and mid layers but wear my Core 4 bases a lot and really like it. One thing is for sure: merino wool is the way to go for base layers.

So Indian Summer, on a 5 to 7 day hunt in mid October how many outer clothes would you carry vs. base layers?

Mid October means anything can happen. It can be warm. It's always warm when your hiking uphill. It can be cold. It's always chilly when you are sitting in the shade. The beauty of merino is how many days you can wear it without smelling like a locker room. Two tops and bottoms is plenty for a week hunt. Then I have a layer of the quilted Under Armour 4.0 bottoms for really cold weather. I wear the same outer wear layer all week. Same top layer all week too. For tops I have more options for mid layers including a Sitka Kelvin vest so I can really fine tune my upper body temp. My Sitka Jetstream jacket gets me through most of bow and gun season. For really cold gun hunting I go to wool.
