Almost desperate for a range finder

Postby Lefty » 09 09, 2015 •  [Post 1]

My Nikon range finder gave me a reading of 43 yards. While that didnt seem correct I set my 45 yard pin on the bull. And the arrow sweetly flew over his back.
I ran to the nearest town Sunday and bought a pair of batteries(18.99 )  Still didnt work correctly
So I need a range finder for someone on a budget.
What should I get , and from where?

I called Nikon.
My range finder had to be "reset"
I pushed both buttons down for 30 seconds and it works just fine.

I don't think Im upset I missed the spike bull, however Im not thrilled that the range finder happened to quit working at that moment

Before the cheap fix it was aggravating.

Well I did make the choice not to shoot again and had plenty of time to take better shots. But My excuse to not shoot again,.. still early in the season and it was a long hike up and down to get out,.plus there were other bulls around for a bit.
And I have that moose to kill,.. which were starting to worry on that a bit too,.. the past 8 days in the unit we haven't seen a moose
