The closer elk call help.

I bought bugling bulls "the closer" elk call a while back and its the one I'm comfortable with. I since bought another one and was using it but couldn't sound near the same with it. When I looked at it closely the cuts between the two are totally different. I attached the pictures of the two. One is in a V and the other has some half circle cut on it. Can anyone confirm which is the odd one? Is the V cut one the fluke? I sure hope not as thats the one i like.

Man. Quality control musta went away before it began. I'm sure they'll make it right but what an embarrassment! Lots of other call manufacturers will love this!

The bottom V cut one, which is the one i like i bought from elknut. The top is one i just picked up when i stopped by a cabelas. I dont mind ordering another but if the V cut one is the fluke i will have to find another call because that is the one i really like. Just trying to find out which one is the norm.

The closer is my go too call. Love that thing and the music it makes The bottom call is the norm. They will make it right with you. I have been using the closer for many many years and haven't had this issue.

I was able to get in touch with them, however its not a mess up, they said they changed the call. However they said they would make the older style for me and ship it to me.

Wow, that is odd. I wonder if the company had a design change for that call between the time you bought your first one and the second call? It's possible but I would certainly contact them and ask...

Edit: Oops, I see you already contacted them and there was a design change.

Quite a few years back, that call was called "The Hot Coaxer", and it had a Y cut in it, as opposed to a V. I preferred this design. Then they changed the name to "The Closer" with the V cut. Which I make into a Y cut, since I think it sounds better and easier to blow.

Now they've changed it AGAIN with the half moon cut and it is way more difficult to use for some reason. I really wish these call manufacturers would quit messing with designs that aren't broke! I'm about to get a call press and quit buying mass produced, since they can't stay consistent.

Sometimes, I think they do it on purpose! The other issue is, I typically have to buy 5 calls and maybe, MAYBE two will sound great and the others go in the trash. What a scam I tell ya'!

When I called them I was able to order them and have them made with the V cut. If you want any just give them a call, they was very helpful and the calls arrived in a few days.
