yeah been using one for 3 years now. havnt had any issues yet. now i wouldnt drink from a wallow or anythink nasty as it obviously doesnt filter anything. i usually double the reccommended treatment time just to feel a lil safer

I've used mine for two years. Took me a while to build up the trust so I ended up 3 years ago using it on the last day of the hunt figuring I'd be home to a toilet and paper, if it didn't work. I trust it completely now. Like previously stated, I wouldn't use water from a wallow, but if you have abundant water, it saves you some weight of having to carry a days supply. It's takes about 2-3 minutes for each liter. The UV light destroys the bacteria and virus DNA, thus killing it. Municipalities use UV all the time. Carry extra batteries, a large mouth bottle, and something as a back up if you are going to be out several days. Or use the pen as your back up. Another good use, is if you go on vacation where the water is bad, take it a long. Went to Mexico last winter and the hotel water had a notice not to drink it. The bottled water they sold you was $3 each. Would have been nice to have had it with me then.

i use one. i like it. but i promise you, it will be the slowest 90 seconds of your life. stir stir stir.

it would suck to fill up a bladder. i use it only if i am nalgene bottling my water. man...that 90 seconds is slow. especially if youre in a hurry :)

A friend has one and we used it quite a bit during one elk hunt. But I didn't care for the sediments. Since it doesn't filter dirty water is dirty water even though it's safe to drink. I love my Katydyn Vario. I can fill a 5 gallon jug really fast. Pumps suck water from the smallest of depressions to. With the pen collecting the water in the first place can be an issue depending on where you are.

If I was way back in and camped along a clear running stream I might consider it. Otherwise no.
