Scope Mt Failures

Anyone else seen scope mount failures?
I've had it happen to me twice now and seen it a third time. (15 yrs between events)

First time: 300 Ultra Mag sighting in new rifle, rear screw broke off after approx. 12 rds.

Second time: 300 Win Mag, check gun on before starting hunt, scope came off mounts approx. 4rds.

Third time: same gun and mounts as the second time, shot an Elk (3 shots) and noticed the scope miss aligned, probably would have came loose with a couple more shots.

The first event the mounts were the Leupold or a Leupold style (not positive, sold the gun). The second and third events were Leupold mounts & rings.
The rounds fired were heavy loads and heavy bullets, 300 Ultra Mag had a muzzle break, the 300 Win Mag is a slick barrel. Both rifles are Remington 700's. I have several other guns using the same Leupold setup with no problems but these are all smaller caliber/loads.
Failures all occurred at the rear screws that capture the scope ring.

So we now have no confidence in these mounts. What is everyone using? or recommend? I'm setup up a new 300 Win Short Mag and remounting the 300 Win Mag.

Nope no mount issues at all with Weaver or Vortex.

Put some mounts on that are made to hold under recoil. Better yet, use a one piece rail with a recoil lug (nightforce) and some rings with cross bars.

I had some Talley ul rings crack on a hard recoiling rifle. Get better mounts and never think about this as a problem again

Ok, what brand to you recommend?

Guess it kinda depends on how heavy your scope is more mass the scope has more chance it has to slip. For bulletproof setup budget minded go with a rail and tactical rings. The night force mention above are excellent but cost can be a factor. I like Warne for the money

I used the Leupold mounts for years. Too many moving parts. I switched to Talley one piece mounts on my .300 Ultra Mag and so far so good.

I haven't had failures, but I also torque my bases/rings, lap my rings and use loctite.
I tried 1 pair of Talley 2 piece rings and found (by using my alignment fixture) that they were way off; too much for the lapping tool to correct.
Weaver Picatinney rail/rings are cheap and work great.
