A good scouting trip

After pulling bear baits I hiked around a bit: 12 miles, 2400 feet up,.. then down
Walked up on a group of elk. The little bull gives me a chance like he did Wednesday, Ill be done. Saw one other bull. Stopped him at 70 yards with the most terrible "mew" possible coming out of my dry mouth
This spike stayed in the bed an extra 30 seconds less than 20 yards

I was a bit disappointed. We found 4 salt licks

I might have killed 20 , Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday morning.
I only got bit maybe a dozen times by horse-flys, In those three day I killed all of a 1,000. My dog maybe killed another 150. For what ever reason they were slow
We tried getting out of the horse-flys on a big ridge, a good breeze and they still got on us.

I use to have bee's. Been stung a lot,.. Im sticking to a horse fly bite Generally on me, horesflies quit hurting in minutes.
Ive had some bee stings that were like a hornet bite, Like getting hit by a baseball bat, Making me want to drop to the ground and cry.
