Estrus calls

So this year I have the first archery hunt of September (1-15). I am planning on mostly using the "Cold or Silent Calling routine". I understand that its not a matter of how much calling you do, but more about the quality of calling. I have an assortment of different Estrus calls such as the hyper lip single, Matriarch, and so on. So the routine will be mostly some herd mews followed by a few estrus sounds, wait a few minutes and repeat. But is there any benefit to switching estrus calls every time you start a sequence? Or should you stick to the same estrus call while you are in that spot. So I guess what im saying is that the first 30 second or so sequence would be some herd mews (mouth reed) followed by a few estrus sounds (open reed) starting with a hyper lip single. Wait a few minutes than do that same sequence again except use a matriarch for the estrus sounds. Is this just a recipe for over complicating a simple calling sequence or can this add to the illusion that there are multiple cows in an area?

It would be more in the liking of over contemplating yourself! (grin) Stay simple with what's easy, you do not need or want to add two different cows possibly nearing estrus at the same time. When using estrus whines only use two or three early season but more social talk during a calling sequence. The estrus whines should be kept at a minimum to maintain a natural setting. This is not the same sound as the estrus buzz so don't confuse them even though the buzz is a great choice to inject here & there.

Awesome! Thank you very much! That makes total sense. There are so many tools out there and sometimes we try to use them all at once. I am glad you mentioned the estrus buzz too, I've been practicing it a bit lately. I was not sure if the buzz took the place of the whine or not.

As for what the set up is geared for, well I'm still very new to calling. I just learned about Silent calling last year. Since then I've picked up "Sounds by the Elk", and the "Advertising and Breeding Sequence". But I'm just not quite there yet. I would love a big bull, but given the experience I have in calling and the fact I have an early season tag I may just have to see what happens.
