So we are into the first week of June and I have not had a full day of sun in over 5 weeks. Pikes Peak is solid white and temps have been high 40s to low 70s. Nights as cold as 32. Run off is starting late but the rivers are high from rain. The grass is tall and lush, so the elk will be very healthy for calving season. Should be great antler growth as long as July doesn't go bone dry.
Down side is so much snow the elk can't get to normal calving grounds and the bugs are living good. Also I have to wait for high altitude lakes to open up.
You would be wise to bring a good supply of bug spray when you come out this year!
I have not been to the western slope this year things may different over there.

Great update on your part of the world Gregg! Ours is different here, snows are leaving fast & elk have migrated back, everything is on par & even a bit earlier. Funny thing here is we generally have no mosquitoes come Sept. Hope that holds true, I really dislike the little buggers! (grin)

The Gila is as dry as a popcorn fart. Hope June and July bring much needed rain for peak antler growth!

South East and SE Central mts Boulders on east here in Idaho the snow left weeks early many trail passes are passable that typically are not open for weeks. Fortunately we have been getting a lot of rain and snow in the higher elevations Southern face quakies are leafing out. every thing is very green and ahead of scheduled. The irrigaters are stating the reservoirs are filling back up.
USGS stream flow data to date is below average some are listed below 10% for the thirty year average.
We could end up with a bad fire year with all the early growth

Here in the NW.Oregon we have been setting record highs in the 80's a few tags last month and have had no snow in the lower elivations. There is berry picking starting already and I am worried that our honey hole is going to be closed for fire danger. I have heard that we have had about the normal rain fall, but all in hard falls of a few days not drug out through the month

Gregg, I am living on Vallecito Resv for the summer down here by Durango and the grass is green we have lots of rain. The lake is full here as well... On the up side.. I am killing it on Lake... I took a 47 in Pike 19lbs, I took a few 5 LB Brown Trout and I landed a 30 in Walleye all in the last couple weeks...

I took a 47 in Pike 19lbs, I took a few 5 LB Brown Trout and I landed a 30 in Walleye all in the last couple weeks...

Pueblo Res. is up to the spillway for the first time in 20+yrs. Pulled a dozen walleyes last Saturday and am headed back down Saturday to learn the lake all over again. The rivers are blown out right now so I will have to wait until July for that. The callibaetis hatch will start any day now up at Spinney, so I will hit that next week.

We have had so much rain in the Denver area that the spillways for both Chatfield and Bear Creek lake are open to empty the flood waters out, not getting in the high country as much while waiting the second newborn to arrive this month.

The walleye bite has started in SE NM. We caught 50 fish that we kept today between 3 boats with 1/4 of them walleye and the rest white bass. I didn't catch the most but was fotunate to catch the biggest. A 7lb walleye caught on a bottom bouncer with spinner/night crawler rig. Its raining right now and it sounds so good hitting my "elk tent".

Finally our first day in June of mostly sunshine and no rain. However since most of this moisture has been snow higher in elevation, this will definitely shorten my other favorite hunting season beside elk.
