heavy sleeping bag

Everybody asks for recommendations for lightweight sleeping gear. Im looking to buy a couple heavy sleeping bags, real warm bastards. Not the mummy kind, the kind i can unzip and theyll lay flat. Want two of them for the bed of my truck. Thats where theyll stay so weight is no issue. Ordered a 4in thick memory foam pad that ill cut to fit, and im getting a canopy. Being able to sack out in my truck will be helpful. Any recommendations?

Whitey, I have a Teton bag I picked up at Cabelas for base camping a handfull of years back and really like it. It has the flannel lining and is oversized. Here's something similar I found on Amazon.

that roll up sleeping system the Western Hunter crew put together looks amazing. it's like a real bed!. if i had zero space and weight concerns, i'd consider a cowboy type bed-roll.

but that western hunter system looks like a modernized version.

I hate mummy bags, I roll all over at night. Just a heads up Memory foam is hard in the cold. Will you be sleeping two guys in the truck?
Consider a "base layer" foam. I use a closed cell foam
I have about 40 nights in my -5 Big Johnson. Im a bit over 6-foot and 265. Ill sleep in my underwear to about 35 degrees then start adding socks long-johns, longsleeve-T
Big roomy comfy bag.Last year I spent 53 nights camping/hunting my wife often spends the nights , so I keep things comfortable

My base layer is 1/2" closed cell. Ill use 1"foam when winter/snow camping. The best thing is you can crawl around on your knees. For us in the tent it takes some of the lumps out of rock, cactus, sticks etc and acts as an inside the tent moisture barrier.
I use to use carpet scrap. My Boys scouts insist on using a carpet in their tents

My wife is .. ah ,.. older than me, she is, well lets say over 50. She has tented 10 days so far this year starting in February I bought this bag for me . The Johnson and black pine "were" partners.

Lol no. Sharing the bed of a tacoma with another dude isnt exactly my style
I want two just so i can lay them flat, sleep on top of one, under the other. I figure it would be more comfortable, more like a bed. I toss and turn a lot so being in a closed sleeping bag i tend to get a bit twisted up and uncomfortable

I used an Adan and Eve bag for years in my pickup, we received as a wedding gift. Lots of room. Colder nights I would toss another blanket or sleeping bag over the top. It was th bag I used my first 4 years archery elk hunting

That bag is still a go to bag as a extra or toss over my head when its below 0, last week I napped on in in the afternoon sun, yesterday it was my wifes pillow

A number of manufactures make bags to zip together like the Big Johnson and Grizzlie bags
Then buy one bag with a 20 or 30 degree different rating than the other

This is what I bought a few months ago. Goes do to -10 degrees. Anxious to try it out this season. It has to be better than my old cheap Walmart bag

I have used the coleman sleeping bags and zipped them togehter. The only downside is they are bit short for my 6'4" frame but I work around that.
