With a name like "overkill" I'd expect a little more 400g arrows at 60#? I've read enough internet forums to know that you can't kill an elk with that....

LOL, I was waiting for someone to say that. I still have my 80# omen with the 612gr arrows from last year. I just realized I don't need to be drawing a whole lot of weight with a 30" draw length.

think of it this way, most people need a 70# bow to come close to what im doing with a 60#

What is the brace height on that bow? Personally, I prefer more weight on a less aggressive bow with a longer brace height. Nice bow. I like the orange.

jjoverkills setup is just fine for elk! 408g arrow / 60# = 6.8 g/# of draw weight. Elknuts penetration study showed optimum penetration with between 6.6 and 7 grains per. pound of draw wt. The longer draw length is a bonus also. jjoverkill will beable to hold longer at full draw on that big bull and will also be able to draw more smoothly and with less radical movement. Also, he will be able to draw more easily when tired and cold and from more awkward positions. These are all big advantages in the field under difficult conditions. There are some big differences between shooting in the back yard and shooting in the elk woods of September for sure! Seems like every season now I find myself at full draw on a bull waiting for him to take that last step so I can release.

heartwood, them are all the reasons I went with a 60# bow, last yr I was shooting an 80# omen with a 612gr arrow. I can draw that bow just fine and let it down with very little movement. but since im just hunting deer and elk I don't need the 121 ft/lbs of energy. last yr on my elk I shot it at 58 yds and my arrow was 25yds behind my elk and it was bedded down when I shot it.

the brace on this bow is 5 1/4" it weighs 4.3lbs bare. I shoot for PSE and ive talked people out of getting this bow due to there inexperience in shooting, this bow can be torqued very easily with a very short valley. but personally I love this bow. im shooting 2" groups at 60yds with it.
