I just wanted to let y'all know about my limited experience with this brand. I was first introduced to them by this site and picked up one of Paul's demo viper 10x50 binos and immediately fell in love with them. To be honest they were my first decent set of glass but compared to anything else within $300 of their price they are hands down winners. My next purchase was a crossfire scope for my wife. She needed good eye relief, clean and crisp glass, and easy target acquisition. She has an entry level 7mm08 so I didn't feel the need to mount a scope that was 2x the cost of the rifle. I took her to the store and the crossfire 3-9x50 with red dot is what she picked out. The store was out of stock so I called Paul once again and in a couple weeks it was on the doorstep. I mounted the scope got it on paper at the house then took her to the range. She liked the scope but after 6 shots she says"i can't see anything" . I look through the scope and it's just a blur. I looked through the lens both directions and it was a gray blur . I handed the gun back to her and now she could see through it. I realized if I shook the scope i could hear something moving inside. I took the scope off and shipped it back to vortex and was kicking myself for buying a "cheap" scope and was wondering how I could get a refund to put towards a better more "proven" brand. A couple weeks go by and I got a FedEx package from Vortex. Inside was a brand new scope and a note. It said that I had overtightened the scope rings. They included an invoice showing that they had just given me a $200 scope for free and torque specs. So even though it was completely my fault they didn't ask a single question . I know the customer service people had to be shaking their heads when they saw it but to know there's still a company that stand behind their products no matter what is reason enough for me to always make Vortex my first choice in optics. I believe that not only for their price point but at least one step above them you will not find a better piece of glass. I can't compare a pair of vipers to a $3,000 pair of swarovski but they are definitely hold there own in their class.

That's why I recommend them to everyone I know. Especially the ones who are rough on stuff for no reason. (Not saying you are)

great warranty.!! i've gotten good service as well. with a rangefinder.

scope mounting. if the rings are not aligned to each other properly, it takes very little torque to screw up the scope. sadly, i know this.

gun smiths have those ring alignment jigs.

what are the torque values that they gave you.

Overall I've been really happy with my 11-33x razor spotter , Viper rifle scope and viper 10x42's. And yes, the warranty is probably the deal clincher with most of us. But my spotter completely failed this spring and I didn't have it for shed hunting, which sucked. I had to send in the viper binos for repairs as well. They have taken care of me in both instances but it can seriously affect your trip/season having to wait for warranty work. You have to spend 50-100% more $ to get slightly better glass but I suspect the Euro products ( Leica, Zeiss, Swaro) are also more durable...

No matter the price they all fail. When I was in the Corps we had Schmidt & Benders coming from the factory with defects. Same with our leupold spotters.

Just because you spend big $$ does'nt mean there bullit proof. Already sent my swaro binos back once.

A buddy of mine swears by his Vortex optics. I was with him when one of his scopes "broke" from the recoil of the rifle. I figured he would have to eat the cost and get a new one... Nope. He sent them in with a letter explaining what it was mounted to and what had happened. He later got a phone call and shortly after that a package. They upgraded his scope for just the price difference! I was shocked. I will be purchasing Vortex for my optics.

I have several Vortex optics: Razor 65mm spotter, Viper PST FFP scope, Diamondback scope, Viper binos, and the Vortex rangefinder. All from our friend Paul. I couldn't be happier with them and the clarity. Especially the Razor. WOW
