New Bow Shopping

I am shopping for a new bow this weekend. I am hoping to shoot a Hoyt Nitrium, Hoyt Carbon Spyder ZT, Elite Synergy, Elite Energy 35. Any others I should make sure to shoot? My wife is also getting a bow - looking at the Elite Spirit for her. Any recommendations on a bow for a petite female? Thanks in advance for your advice.

I would shoot all the ones the shop have in stock and see which one fits me best and that I enjoy shooting the most and go from there. Now the hard part is when you are like me and a lefty so the shops usually have less stock to try.

I've heard good things about the Bowtech Prodigy. But as already said, shoot 'em all!

I just bought a Hoyt Charger, it is their price point bow, but really nice. I have owned a lot of top end bows that cost twice as much. To be truthful, this Charer shoots just as well in every respect. The one thing that you probably already know is that if you have a long draw length, get a longer bow, like the E35. The string angle on short axle to axle bows, makes fitting them a little harder. I got an all black model, really sharp, nice draw cycle too. Good luck

My draw length is 29", and I shoot right handed. Right eye dominant. I called ahead and they seem to have a lot of bows in stock. Will be harder for my wife who has 25" draw length, but can only pull 25lbs. with comfort. She just wants to shoot targets, so we are looking at something pretty and comfortable for her and not worrying about speed.

I love my Hoyt carbon element, I have shot the new carbon spyder it is a very nice shooting bow. Also, maybe take a look at the Prime bows, they shoot awesome and I have heard good things about them as well. Good luck! Looks like christmas may come a little early

My advice is to try not to even look at what Brand/Model is when you shoot each bow. Think of them as Bow #1, Bow #2, Bow #3 and so on. Have your wife or bow shop guy keep track of which number goes with which model. After you shoot them all tell your wife or the bow shop guy which number felt the best. This eliminates any preconceived notions you might have about a particular brand or any subconscious thoughts you have about a particular brand/model.

I did this an ended up picking one of the lower priced bows that I shot the most accurate and felt the best to me and my shooting style. It was a 2013 PSE Brute X. Going in I wanted to get a Matthews, Bowtech, or Hoyt because that is what I have heard is the best and you see all over, and are considered more high end bows. But go figure. What felt the best with zero awareness of what I was shooting was a bow that was literally half the price of the ones I actually thought I would buy.

This ended up saving me a ton of money and in the end is probably going to help me kill more animals because I feel like this bow just "FITS" me and how I shoot.

Everyone is different and there is always that perfect brand/model that fits you. No one can tell you which one that is, only you can. Pay no attention to brand/models. Pay attention to how it feels and the results. Nowadays all brand and models are fast enough bows to kill most all game in North America.
Of course this is just my opinion, and everyone is entitled to their own.

Another important thing, have them set them up as close to your draw length as possible. Otherwise, they won't feel any where near what they should be. Sometimes, a .lot of times, shops don't want to take the time to set them correctly, if they don't, my advice is to buy somewhere that does.

I just shot EVERYTHING. My favorites were the Matthews Chill X, Bowtech Experience (no diff. in this years and last so buy last years if ya like it), Obsession Addiction, Hoyt Nitrum 34, and Hoyt CST 34. I went with the Nitrum 34. The Chill X was a close second for me. I went into it thinking I'd buy the Prodigy as I've been a Bowtech fan for some time. Pick your favorite but shoot them all. Don't even look at speed. Everything these days is a screamer. For your wife, I'd suggest the Misssion bows, great bang for the buck and some great options for women. Good luck and enjoy!

I shoot an obsession and love it, i shot a bunch of bows and elite and obsession were what I liked best!

Its definitely a personal preference...i shoot an 80# hoyt faktor 30...i love it! I went to the bow ahop with the intention of buying a bowtech 360...i didnt like the extra weight and it wasnt as smooth...speed wise they are all really competative...ithe weight of my faktor fully cranked down is 84# and it only shoots 314 fps with fmj arrows and 100 g tips...but my draw is only 27.5.....i bought my father the faktor 34....his draw is 30 at 72# he shoots 311. Go shoot some...thats the fun of it! Everyone has an opinion on why they love there bow, the only way to get a proper opinion is to shoot a bunch of them! My wife shoots. The hoyt vixen....15 to 70 pound bow with huge draw length range!
