Lowa Tibet vs Renegade GTX

Looking at the Lowa's.. Love the feel of the Renegade GTX, but have not tried the Tibet. I like a nice light boot for backpacking on trails, what advantages does the Tibet have over the renegade GTX Has anyone tried both? Pros or Cons..

The Tibet is not a light weight boot like the Renegade. It is a heavier, sturdier boot built for more nasty terrain. The ankle support is way better with the Tibet.

If you are hunting more mild country, go with the Renegade. If you are going to be doing steep side-hills and rock slides with a loaded pack, get the Tibet.

Like Ridge Ghost said: Hiking or light pack = Renegade (I have a pair and love them). Heavier packing or rough country = Tibet.

I have both those boots here! The Renegades are just a step up from a high top tennis shoe. They are a bit more rigid & a decent piece of footwear but there is much better out there. The Renegades would be fine for casual stuff but when you get into nasty stuff with a load of 75# plus you will wish you had a much better boot! Sidehilling with a load is what breaks or makes a serious boot especially when a pack-out is several miles back. If you're just in need of a trail boot it will do fine. The Tibet is 10 times the boot the Renegade is when comparing the two. If you are just wanting an * boot look at the Asolo Bajuras, I also have those & for an 8" high boot the kick butt, sweet boot for a decent price.

What size do you need? I have a pair in size 8 that are virtually brand new that i am going to sell, they have aprox 3 miles on them. I have so many boots at present that these have to go! (grin)

there is a place for the Renegades.

i love them. i also hunt local wild hogs and Couse Deer in AZ. for both of those hunts the Renegade is just damn near perfect for me. i dont expect a long arduous, heavy pack out. wearing the Renegades i am a much faster more efficient hiker. it is a big obvious difference for me. the flexiblility in the boot offers me much more traction. i can sidehill much faster when i can get some movement to contort my foot to match terrain. there is less ankle support if things go sideways (literally) but i get it.

i dont wear my Renegades anywhere but my day pack hunts. they dont seem that robust, so daily wear is out of the question if i want them to last.

That is exactly my thought.. the boot is lighter and feels like I would be a more efficient hiker.. The way I look at it, most of the time we are all walking or hiking.. it's only when we have downed an animal that the Tibets come into play.. Still a tough choice, but I guess I will go with the Tibets.. Got to be ready when that moment arrives

I have the gtx hunter, Tibet and renegade models. I loved my tibets until I bought the renegades. There so light you hardly know your wearing anything. Tibets are awesome though too, buy em all, you cant go wrong with Lowa.

I could haul a load with my renegades. I just don't love the rigid clunky feeling a heavy boots gives me. Not when I don't need it. In Idaho, you kinda need it. Tree blow downs make you hate life.

Does one have more insulation than the other? Or Does it matter if you wear a merino sock.
