I have the camper on the trailer!I took it out and had it up to 50mph. It was on dirt roads so I didn't want to go faster. It pulls great.

Very cool build! Do you have a lot of construction experience? Sure looks like a top notch job and a very nice indoor shop facility. Did you design the camper yourself? I'm interested in the "nuts and bolts" of your system. I see you used closed cell foam as insulation and added shear resistance (nice stuff). I am a contractor specializing in log, timber frame and conventional construction. Always interested in what others are building.

I have built houses since I was a kid. My dad was a carpenter. I built the house we live in now. It turned out great. It is totally heated with passive solar. I should say me and my wife built it. I also built the shop that you see. It has a built in greenhouse. We have tomatoes that are just ready to turn red. My plan is to eat bananas out of my shop when it is ten below, with no heat input other than the sun.

The camper is built with 2x6 floor joist. 2x4 walls and 3/4 plywood ribs for the roof. It is totally wrapped in 3/8 ply glued. It is foamed with closed cell to help hold it all together. The roof is a rolled liquid rubber. I used Henry brand on that. If you want exact detail I can give you that. It is extremely strong. I can pick up the corner where the door is and it will open and close with no change in the operation.

I plan on 1/2 ply floor and 1/4 ply walls. There will be two double bunk beds in the back. A fridge, stove and full bathroom. It is coming together really good. I will do a full video tour when I get done.

Poisonarrow. Thanks for the details, very nice. I really like the corrugated steel wainccote and shakes. I somtimes use that detail on structures in the heavy snow areas in the mountians. Keeps the snow from damaging the siding and looks nice. Your camper resembles one of those "mini-houses" that are becoming popular. Sure will make a nice guest quarters. I look forward to seeing the finished project.

I am really enjoying following this aweome project. Viewing these pics it occurred to me this does not have to be permanently attached to a trailer, especially if you have a forklift available. You could set it on any suitable trailer if it was well-secured. It just keeps getting better

I weighed the camper. It is 4400#. I expect it to be around 5400# when completed. Here I am doing 70mph it pulls great.

Nice house boat but will it float?

I used an older boat trailer for my john boat with a duck blind on it. The original trailer had one axle. The one I rebuilt for the john was from larger V boat and had 2 axles. No worries about weight with the new trailer.
