MT Drawing Question

Postby bowhunter04 » 04 18, 2015 •  [Post 1]

Hey Everyone,

My dad and I applied as a group for the MT general combo tags. My dad's ALS page is showing he was successful; however, my page is showing that I didn't apply for any tags. This was my first year applying in MT so the creation of an ALS number for me shows they received the info. Has anyone else had this situation? Did we both draw if my Dad's showing he drew? Is it possible that he drew and I didn't if we applied as a group and sent the apps into the F&W in the same envelope?

Thanks,
Jeremy

You must have not filled something out correctly and didn't get a tag. It is possible for you to apply as a group and he got his tag and you didn't. If there is anything incorrect on the app they just throw it out and your name doesn't go in.

Call them Monday am and hope you are patient. There website is horrible and the phone support is worse.

They don't sell out general tags so you will be able to just buy one.

Was your credit card charged for a tag & license?

We did paper apps and sent in the cashiers check so I can't tell if it was processed.

First of all don't worry because you can still buy a license. They won't sell them all and the leftovers, TONS of them, will be available on a first come first served basis. I assume you didn't apply for any limited draw permit.... just the big game combo?

On Monday call 406-444-2950 and ask them to tell you the status of your app. Then ask when the unsold licenses will go on sale.

Did you mail those apps together or separately?

There's always the chance they screwed up too. MT FWP is the worst run fish and game organization in this country. Mistakes are pretty common.

We mailed both apps together and we each double checked each other's app. The only thing I can think of is they didn't like my copy of the gun safety certificate. My dad wasn't required to provide proof of gun safety because of his age and I was required. Thanks for the replies everyone. I'll be calling the F&W first thing Monday.

I think Indian Summer's advice is dead on... Mistakes can and do happen. I have always found FWP to be helpful.

According to the FWP, they claim I forgot my hunters safety certificate. I'm certain that I included it as the last page of the application. I believe they miss placed it but they said there's nothing they can do. I have to hope I can get a leftover. I double and triple checked the app and I know the certificate was the last page of the app.

Shocking. I had a bonus point mysteriously disappear over the last year. Called them and they were sorry and that is what they had on record. Unless I could submit some sort of proof of the point there was nothing they could do.

If you do your apps online I'd suggest you save the receipts every year. Just in case you may need them to prove a point or something.

Myself: quote "There's always the chance they screwed up too. MT FWP is the worst run fish and game organization in this country. Mistakes are pretty common." quote

I have no doubt you included it. You only have 1 application to worry about. They have thousands. One time I mailed in about 10 apps for my clients. One vanished. Of course I never realized it until he didn't draw. Back then there were no leftovers. I raised holy hell all the way the top of the food chain. Sorry sir... sorry sir. I said yes you are a sorry ass bunch of people over there aren't you!!! Eventually they caved in and totally violated their own policies and sold my guy his license. I swear to you me and one good secretary could run that organization better than they do.

Don't worry bowhunter... the fact that they can't run a business is also to your advantage. Since they can't seem to sell all of the licenses which used to be a limited draw you will definitely be able to get a license. Did you ask when leftovers will go on sale?

From the news portion of the website: Any remaining nonresident combination licenses will be available via a first-come first-served sale set to begin May 4.

I'll add that in the past they have accepted paper apps before the sale date. They date stamp them and issue licenses as soon as they go on sale.
