Just curious; How many of you purchase other game tags besides elk when you're in other states

If applying in NM it is mandatory to purchase a small game license.

In Montana I used to carry a deer tag because the mule deer season was open at the same time as elk, I could get a license every year, and there were some good bucks. But they made changes to the unit borders and now where I hunt it is near impossible to get the deer tag so it's elk only.

In Wyoming the deer overlaps with archery elk. BUT.... it takes several points to get the deer license. So if I burn my deer points I will do the tag justice and hunt deer only on it. Obviously if I saw an opportunity to kill a bull, a 6 point bull, I would take it. Rifle elk and deer do not overlap there.

I've carried bear tags in Wyoming too because the bear hunting is pretty good. But only if I'm rifle hunting.

Typically I don't, other than a small game license. I tend to put all my efforts into one goal. I always get a fishing license and trout stamp for the times I tag out early... I don't get the opportunity to use that as often as I'd like though.

I put in for a deer tag every time. Depending on the unit sometimes I draw and sometimes I don't.

I'll have a deer and bear tag this year. I hunt for elk but you never know what'll happen. Last year I missed a bear in the morning while following a herd of elk. I shot my bull that evening. The year before I shot my bull on the 2nd day of a 12 day hunt so I hunted deer the next 10 days. I wish I had a bear tag that year because there were 3 different bear that came into the carcass.

I put in for CO deer points only this year. No tag for a couple more years if plans hold true.

Not here, when elk hunting in other states it's all in on elk!!! I need to devote all my time in that direction & not be side tracked into feeling I need an allotted time to hunt another species.

I usually carry as many tags as I can get my hands on. I've killed a handful of critters that "got in the way" of my elk hunt
